About Us

We're a small team from Adelaide with backgrounds in hospitality and a genuine love for quality products, good design, and everyday ritual. One of us owns a café, while the other has spent years working in hospitality, so creating memorable experiences through food and drink has always been a huge part of what we do.

Solace & Heart started as a small idea between friends.

After one of us travelled through Japan and experienced traditional matcha firsthand, we realised what matcha was actually supposed to taste like. Smooth, vibrant, naturally sweet and umami, without the bitterness or harsh grassy flavour so many people associate with it.

When we came back home, we kept hearing people say they hated matcha, but after trying a lot of what was on the market ourselves, we realised most people didn't actually hate matcha. They'd just never had good matcha before.

A lot of matcha available felt dull, bitter, or made without much care behind it. We knew it could be so much more than that, so we became obsessed with finding matcha that genuinely changed people's minds.

That journey eventually led us to Uji, Kyoto, Japan, where we built relationships with traditional farmers and producers who still approach matcha the proper way: slow, intentional, and focused on quality above everything else.

Today, Solace & Heart is proudly stocked in cafés and creative spaces across Adelaide and continues to grow through a community of people who care deeply about quality, hospitality, and thoughtful experiences.

At the core of our brand is first harvest ceremonial grade matcha sourced from Uji, Kyoto. Crafted to taste smooth and balanced without bitterness, and designed to work beautifully both traditionally and in modern café settings.

But Solace & Heart was never meant to stop at matcha.

For us, it's about slowing down, creating things with care, and bringing more intention into everyday life. Alongside our matcha, we've slowly expanded into ceramics, homewares, and practical pieces designed to be used daily and kept for years to come.

We're still learning, still growing, and taking things one step at a time. No trends, no overcomplicated story. Just products we genuinely believe in and are proud to share.
